Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers

Ensuring Accessible Assessments

This operational working group, composed of state practitioners, is responsible for the day-to-day aspects of the accessibility scope of work, and is charged with ensuring the PARCC design includes accessible assessments that remain true to the intended vision of the assessment system.

Members of the working group draft and review policies, including accommodations policies, participation policies, accessibility guidelines, and policy research. Partnership-wide policies are outlined in the PARCC Accessibility Features and Accommodations Manual, which was adopted by all PARCC states in July 2013. The Fifth Edition was released in August 2016.

The working group also works to ensure that schools across the consortium receive test administration guidance for accessibility features and accommodations for students with disabilities, English learners, and English learners with disabilities.

Members have a range of state-based expertise in access and accommodations for English learners, students with disabilities and underserved populations, as well as an understanding of K-12 academic content.
