By PARCCParcc Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of two new executives:
Helene Duvin recently joined Parcc Inc. as Chief Strategy Officer and will focus on the strategy for making high quality PARCC content available to as many states, districts, and students as possible. In addition, she will lead the development and implementation of tools to support teachers, including diagnostic assessments and other instructional supports. Duvin comes to Parcc Inc. with a 25-plus-year track record of success in the specialized areas of educational assessment and educational technology, encompassing business and product development, marketing, and strategy leadership. Most recently, she served as Vice President, Marketing and Commercial Sales for Pacific Metrics, and previously served in leadership roles with other testing companies.
Dr. Lisa Ehrlich is the new Senior Director of Summative Assessment and will concentrate on the ongoing development of the PARCC summative assessments. Ehrlich has more than 20 years of experience in the assessment industry, including experience with client and program management and the operational oversight of test development, publishing, distribution, data analysis, psychometrics, and reporting functional units. Prior to joining Parcc Inc., Ehrlich held a number of positions at Measured Progress, including Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Client Services. She also held management positions with Digital Equipment Corporation and has taught at Boston University and Lesley University.
“I am pleased to bring on board such talented individuals to help lead the organization forward,” said Laura Slover, CEO of Parcc Inc. “As the needs of the states are changing, we are building the capacity to ensure that as many educators and students as possible can benefit from the high quality PARCC content that has been developed over the past five years.”
PARCC assessments were developed by states education leaders as a comprehensive and streamlined assessment system. The PARCC system — which includes formative and diagnostic components — provides valuable information to teachers to support individual student needs and to improve opportunities for all students. Earlier this year the states reduced the amount of overall testing time — contributing to the goal of fewer, better tests.
PARCC recently made available to member states nearly 850 released test questions with graded and annotated sample student answers, scoring rubrics, and references to which standards were assessed. The released items, along with the recently-launched Partnership Resource Center, provide local teachers and administrators with useful professional development tools to support classroom learning.
