Since its inception, the PARCC consortium has had the utmost commitment to transparency, and to providing parents, teachers, and students with access to data and resources that foster classroom growth. To date, PARCC has published more than 1,300 authentic test items from the 2015-16 assessment season, including more than 50 new items for grades 9 through 11 published today. These newly-released items complement the more than 500 authentic test materials from grades 3 through 8 now available, along with the more than 850 test items from 2014-15 assessments released last year. Altogether, this equates roughly to one full test per grade from each year, in both English language arts and mathematics.
The high school-level materials published this week in PDF format include multiple-choice questions from both subjects, along with accompanying answer keys and performance-level descriptors. This material is designed to show viewers precisely which core competencies are measured for each released item and what is needed for a student to reach each of the five potential scoring levels on the PARCC Summative assessments. In addition, the item release includes reading passages and open-ended response questions from last year’s assessments, along with authentic student responses from each scoring level.
As with previous item releases, these newly-published marterials are available to the public without any login or registration requirements.
Additional information about how to interpret individual student score reports is available on UnderstandtheScore.org; individual school districts across the consortium made score reports from the 2015-16 administration available to students last fall.
